Bali - First 2 Days

We arrived in Bali and got to our hotel on Friday at about 8:00pm.

The hotel is a pleasent surprise. It is a maze of cottage-like buildings with little lanais, wandering cobble-stone paths, a swim-up bar pool, and garden everywhere. The room (a triple) has a huge king size bed and a tiny cot (sorry Aaron). It has aircon and hot water (i'm not getting used to that) and a TV. Balinese decor has a bit of the HI bar Indigo feel to it but a bit run down.

The first night we headed to the closest gay bay, Hulu's... Hulu's has campy drag shows that we all loved. The DQ's spotted Aaron as a play-along type and took advantage of that. At one point Aaron was on stage with his shirt up and the DQ teasing his nips. Hilarious!

The next day was a lazy beach and nap day. The beaches are nice and feel like california or Australia beaches in that they are wide (at least here in Kuta). The touts for Henna tatoos, guides, braids, and tchotke get tiresome but we we're in the thick of the touristy area. We have over a week here so we'll find some areas that are more laid back and less touristy.

We had a nap and headed off to the Gay bar area. It was Sat night so it was busy. The crowd follows an order so you just sort of follow the crowd. The Q bar was 2 floors, a dance floor, go-go boys on the bar, blah, blah, gay-bar-resort-blah. Fun but nothing you wouldn't find in other cities. At about 130am everyone goes across the street to Kudos. I didn't go in but you can see all the action from the 2nd floor terrace of Q-bar. The highlight was the fire dancers. They spun fire above the crowd and were much more entertaining than flaggers could every be (sorry circuit boys).

I left A and Y and went home for some bed. Got up early this morning and ran here to the internet place. I'll try to upload some pics but I don't know if they'll let me so I might have to add photos later.
