Monkey Business

So we had yet another lazy day on Monday in the Legian area where our hotel is. We went on a big island trip yesterday with a driver and a car (nice!). They got the driver stopped at Starbucks first but it was closed. Starbucks opening at 10am?! So we had to stop by McDonald's drive-by for some instant coffee (creamed with ice cream btw).
We got taken to batik weaving place and a sliver shop (all very touristy). We saw terraced rice fields near Ubud then headed north to one of the volcanoes and had lunch at a restaurant perched on the edge of a hill with an amazing view.
After lunch we then went to the monkey sanctuary where the monkeys went bananas. Quite literally. One was especially aunrey and stole all our bananas and a water bottle. We then headed south and visited the temple Pura Luhur Ulu Watu at sunset. The temple is perched on coastal cliffs with a breath taking view. We watched a traditional Balinese dance and fire dancing where there was no music but a 45 strong chorus of men chanting...
Jared and I are taking our time enjoying the pace (or lack of it) we set ourselves. I've also learnt a few new card games by the hotel pool and beating Jared and Aaron at it! Ah, skills from my mahjong days finally come in handy! We are really our time in Bali and are looking forward to start the next stage (this Sunday) of our trip, where we are heading east to Lombok.... It's bliss...
Sampai Jumpa Lagi (see you later).
