Leaving Malang :-(

So Thursday we're leaving Malang. As you have read from our previous posts, we like it here but we're ready to move on.

We bought a plane ticket that departs Jakarta a week from tomorrow (Wednesday) so we have decided to take a train directly to Jakarta. It will be a lengthy stay in Jakarta but we'll be able to indulge ourselves in all the things that we (or I) were looking forward to doing without at the beginning of our trip: bars, booze, and Burger King. There are also shopping malls, museums, and even an amusement park that “celebrates the cultural diversity of Indonesia”. I hope it's as cheesy as the Jesus amusement park in Buenos Aires but that would be hard to beat.

After much discussion (Yami convincing me) we decided to buy the “Executif” class train ticket to Jakarta. “Ekonomi” is only $5 usd and exekutif is $25usd. That's quite a price difference but after reading in our guide book that ekonomi is “horrendously overcrowded open carriages with bare wooden benches as the only furnishings” I knew that HRH would alight at the first train stop. So Executif it is.

So... off to Jakarta... farewell Malang!
